Authorities of the Lagos State University (LASU) Thursday ordered the
indefinite closure of the institution following a violent protest by
students over the registration process for the rain semester
examination.
THE Senior Staff Association of the Nigerian Universities (SSANU),Western Zone, yesterday threatened to down tools if the Federal Government decides to fully implement the Needs Assessment Report which it described as poisonous to Non-Academic Staff in universities.
As the strike embarked upon by the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) continues, President
Goodluck Jonathan has described the teachers’ action as subversive and
no longer a strike.
ASUU has refused to call off its over five-months old strike despite
the intervention of the president in a marathon meeting held recently at
the Presidential Villa, lasting about 13 hours.
