Ezekwesili under fire over threat to lead mass action on ASUU strike
The Unity Project Nigeria (UPN) has berated former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, over her alleged threat to lead a mass protest over the four-month-old strike embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), just as it accuses her of championing the cause of
the opposition parties.
A statement on Tuesday in Abuja signed by Convener of the group, Igwekala Leo Ugomaduefule, stated that by the latest slur on the Federal Government over the ASUU strike by Oby Ezekwesili, the lid has finally been blown open on the real motives and designs of the erstwhile Education Minister.
It stressed that Ezekwesili’s her hidden agenda has been exposed in the open domain, alleging that she had been engaged to rubbish President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
According to him, “Until this her latest threat of mobilising and leading a mass action against the government over the crises in the education sector, it has been public knowledge that Oby Ezekwesili had habitually engaged in the pasting of making wild and unsubstantiated allegations of graft and corrupt practices against individuals and institutions in public service in the present regime.
“She had in the past alleged that the present regime squandered Nigeria’s foreign reserves to the tune of $70 billion or thereabout, and had likewise alleged a humongous budget expenditure of billions of dollars by the present National Assembly.
“All these events appeared unrelated as she sought desperately to enjoy a moral high ground as an anti-corruption crusader.
Ugomaduefule pointed out that “unfortunately for her, the latest stance on the ASUU strike has proved one action too far. This action has provoked a backlash that has opened and ravaged her underbelly.
“Information at our disposal indicates incontrovertibly that all these actions of hers are all part of a well conspired and rehearsed script. She is a hired agent, out to discredit and destabilise the Jonathan Administration.
