Registration is the first and most important thing at the orientation camp, just like at any other place. At the registration venue, you are expected to provide the following things:
Official NYSC Camp Requirements :

1. Your final year Student ID Card
2. Notification of Result from your School (Original and Photocopies)
3. Passport Photograph (Take as many copy as you can but you will only need a few)
4. Your original call-up letter (This will be taken and not returned to you, take photocopies along too)

The forms that will be handed to you and attach your passport are very easy to fill. Fill them correctly, because if you make mistakes on your name spelling, you will have BIG Problems with your Discharge Letter.
After your registration, you will be issued with your State Code Number. This will be like your PIN throughout your Service Year.
After you have been given your State Code, you should proceed straight to collect your mattress and your NYSC Kit.
Go for your kit on time so that you can get your size.

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen kidnapped at least 20 young mothers near a town in northeast Nigeria where more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted nearly two months ago, sources told AFP on Tuesday.
There were conflicting reports of how many women were abducted from the nomadic settlement near Chibok in Borno state, with one local leader putting the number as high as 40.
But the latest kidnappings, which happened on Saturday in and around the village of Garkin Fulani, eight kilometers from Chibok, were the latest in a spate in the area.

An Abuja High Court on Wednesday rejected an ex-parte motion brought by the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Lamido Sanusi. Mr. Sanusi asked the court to set aside his suspension from office.
Mr. Sanusi was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan last Thursday over alleged financial recklessness and official misconduct.
He filed the suit on Monday to challenge his suspension. He had not only asked for reinstatement, but also an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the president, the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police from stopping him from performing his duties as CBN Governor.

He blamed the boy for his bad luck
In one of the most cruel child abuse cases reported, a Nigerian allegedly padlocked his four-year-old son’s mouth, while he battered him to death.

The 30-year-old man believed that the boy was a ‘child of evil’, and blamed him for his bad luck, according to a report in MailOnline.

He allegedly used a hot iron over his body and then locked him in a plastic drum.

Meanwhile, the man attempted to pretend he was mentally ill at the time of his arrest. But authorities claim his condition was normal, the report added quoting International Business Times.

He is charged with murder.

The incident came to light when the child’s mother returned home from the market and saw her son dead.

Suspected Boko Haram Islamists killed 43 people on Tuesday in an attack on secondary school students as they slept in the latest school massacre to hit Nigeria's troubled northeast.

Nigeria meanwhile issued an appeal to France and Abuja's Francophone neighbours, especially Cameroon, to help it in the battle against Islamists, two days before a planned visit from French President Francois Hollande.

The raid at 02:00 targeted the Federal Government College in the town of Buni Yadi in Yobe state and bore the hallmarks of a similar attack last September in which 40 died.

The attackers reportedly hurled explosives into student residential buildings, sprayed gunfire into rooms and hacked a number of students to death.

Suspected Islamic militants have killed 29 students in a pre-dawn attack on a northeast Nigerian school, survivors say, setting ablaze a locked dormitory and shooting and cutting the throats of those who escaped through windows. Some were burned alive.
Soldiers guarding a checkpoint near the government school were mysteriously withdrawn hours before the attack, said the spokesman for the governor of Yobe state.

Forty three civil society organisations met in Abuja Tuesday under the auspice of the Civil Society Situation Room and called on the President  Goodluck Jonathan to immediately  remove from office the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Minister of Petroleum,  ‎Diezani Alison Madueke and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), Andrew Yakubu.

In a communique issued at the end of their meeting, the Situation Room also called on the National Assembly to convene an independent judicial commission ‎of inquiry to investigate allegations that USD 20 Billion had been stolen from public revenues at the NNPC.

"Situation Room notes that 20 billion dollars would make a huge and significant difference to the lives and living conditions of the ordinary Nigerians and significant impact on collapsed infrastructure, generate new jobs and revive industries and indeed address several problems confronting the country," the communique stated.
