According to the Metro, Real Madrid are ready to sell Angel Di Maria as they hope to raise funds to cushion the effects of Gareth Bale’s summer acquisition. In most recent weeks, Di Maria has been reportedly linked with Premier League’s Arsenal and Manchester United. Di Maria is facing an uncertain future with the Spanish Giants
after Bale’s arrival last summer.

With reports suggesting that Real Madrid are heading the race to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool, they are looking to raise funds and are willing to give up the Argentine international in the process.

The Gunners managed to land Di Maria’s former teammate, Mesut Ozil and could persuade the club to do the same thing again. While Arsenal have once already added a player from the Bernebeu to their line-up, they could be facing stiff competition from Premier League champions Manchester United should they decide to try their luck again in the winter window.

Should Di Maria be made available in the winter window, it will make a mess of Ancelotti’s defence with regards to Ozil’s surprised exit in the summer. The Italian tactician had claimed Ozil left because he couldn’t cope with the ensuing competition while he preferred keeping Di Maria ahead of Ozil since the Argentine was better for the shape of the team.

The argument in some quarters had been that Real Madrid had to sell Ozil to cushion the effect of Bale’s world record acquisition. With the recent development, this seems the valid argument. Real still have to offload some of their fringe stars to balance the books.

Should Di Maria become available, should Arsenal go for him? It is a no-brainer as he would add genuine width to the Arsenal team. He is a natural winger with abundant pace, silky skills and pin-point crosses. Giroud would relish his partnership with him. If Wenger doesn’t get his preferred striking target in January, he might just turn to Di Maria to strengthen the attack
