President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to commence the process of the privatisation of the nation’s four refineries.
Director General, BPE, Mr. Benjamin Dikki, disclosed this Friday in a statement signed by the agency's spokesman, Mr. Chigbo Anichebe.
The ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike has
claimed its biggest casualty as renowned writer, university teacher and
activist Festus Iyayai died in a road accident on his way to the
national congress of ASUU in Kano.
ASUU President Dr. Nasir Fagge confirmed his death to
SaharaReporters. He said the sad news was broken to the union a few
hours ago.
The professor died on a failed portion of a Nigerian highway around Lokoja in Kogi state according to ASUU.
A source close to President Goodluck Jonathan told SaharaReporters that the president has commissioned a group of political pundits to begin to counteract former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s reported secret plans to work for the emergence of a Northerner as president in 2015.
The source added that the Jonathan’s team is charged with strategizing on the best maneuvers to contain Mr. Obasanjo’s moves.
Several sources in the know have told SaharaReporters that President
Goodluck Jonathan’s picks for new cabinet members are likely to be drawn
from the ranks of old and recycled politicians. Top on the list of
those being considered for appointment are former Governor Boni Haruna
of Adamawa,
