Anambra: No date for supplementary election, says INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday stated that it had not fixed a date for supplementary election for the last Saturday’s governorship poll, saying there would be operational audit of what happened in the election.
The Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu, stated this during an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja.
He said, “Our field officers are returning, some have returned already. The commission will meet and decide on a date for the supplementary election. INEC has not met, the 12 national commissioners and the chairman will take the decision on the supplementary election during a formal meeting. They need to get field reports of the election before fixing a date. There is going to be an operational audit of what happened in the election.”
Asked to explain what he meant by operational audit, he said, “When you review what has been done in the field and ask questions on what has been done in the field, that is operational audit.”
