Clergy commends FG on gay law, makes case for rape

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been commended for passing the anti-gay law by the  Archbishop of Methodist Church  of Nigeria, Abuja Archdiocese; Most Reverend Joseph Oche Job.

The Clergy who gave the commendation while speaking in the church at the weekend, also called on the government to take the issue of rape seriously.
Most Reverend Job who cited bible chapters both from the old and new testaments in condemnation of gay, maintained that: “he that lies with another man has turned the natural to unnatural and the unnatural to natural.”
He continues: “When you see a male dog trying to have sex with another male dog, you throw a stone at them but for a man to think of doing it with another man in the name of human right is madness. In the Church of today, Church of tomorrow and even the past Church, it [gay marriage] has never been practiced.”

“A rape is like armed robbery. What is not yours; you use force to take it. Rape is condemned all over the world and the church will never take side with rapists. If anybody is found in the church doing it, that person is ex-communicated.”
He said rapists forces their victims to make love with them and must be treated the same way armed robbers are treated by the government. “They are snatching people's right and should be treated like armed robbers.”
Most Reverend Job called on Nigerians to shun spirit of selfishness, negative political ambition, interest in blood shedding, economic sabotage, tribalism and religious fanatism, emphasizing that Nigeria’s hopes and plans can only succeed if we avoid  ills and evil.

The clergy assured that the Church will continue to play its roles in helping to shape a progressive society.
