The 2011 governorship candidate of the
defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Imo, Senator Ifeanyi
Araraume yesterday accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of applying
intimidation to compel the people register with the All Progressives
Congress (APC) in the party’s ongoing membership registration exercise.
Speaking at a meeting of PDP members
held in his residence in Isiebu in Isiala Mbano LGA, the former guber
aspirant accused Okorocha of using threats on parents and civil servants
in the state to force people register in APC.Describing the registration exercise as deceptive, Araraume urged PDP members in the state to rise up against the action of the governor.
He vowed that the PDP in the state would resist every attempt by the governor to make Imo State headquarters of APC. “They tried it in Anambra State and it failed. It will not work in Imo,” he said.
While urging PDP members to join hands with him to move the party forward, Araraume insisted that the party would regain its lost glory by taking over the glass house in 2015.
He reiterated his commitment to ensure a strong PDP and to bring the party to power, while assuring that the party in Imo will support President Jonathan’s second tenure
